Caedon Herring, PHS graduate of the Class of 2019 and a recipient of the Prosper Community Scholarship said, “I'm very thankful to the Prosper Education Foundation for providing this scholarship. I can't wait to see where my college education will take me, and I greatly appreciate PEF's investment in my future.”
In addition, generous community members and organizations offered additional funds to students including awards given by CoServ, Danny Wilson Allstate Insurance, Mathnasium of Prosper and Lee Lodge Masons. The Robbie Reynolds Memorial Scholarship, Chandler Fetterolf Memorial Music Scholarship, Officer Patrick Turner Memorial Scholarship and Cynthia Cockrell Memorial Scholarship were all signature moments during the event where touching memories were shared as well as investments made into the future for students who share the qualities and plans dear to those community members. “Robbie loved Prosper, serving in leadership roles and School Board positions for most of his life. He loved young people, farming and working for the best PISD could provide,” said Sharon Reynolds, Robbie’s wife of 42 year. “He’d be proud to award this young man scholarship funds for his future at Texas A&M.”
The Prosper Rotary is an instrumental partner in providing the Prosper Community Scholarship. Each year the Prosper Rotary and Prosper Education Foundation together fund a full year of tuition to Collin College with their $1,250 scholarship. PEF scholarship funds come from community and corporate donors, while Prosper Rotary funds come from their Flag Program.
"Education for our young people of PISD is of significant importance to Prosper Rotary said Joey Womble, member of Prosper Rotary. “We believe education is the key to financial success and we are thrilled to offer scholarship funds to those students who might decide not to continue their education due to the cost. Providing these funds ensures that everyone who wants to go to college from PHS has that chance."
